Comment: Description of the problem with J. P. Plumbing Corp. I hired J. P. Plumbing Corp. for a water main installation at ***. On 2/23/2017 I met with Joseph Passalacqua, the head officer of the corporation at the premises. At this meeting we signed a contract for the job. A $5000 deposit was paid. Thereafter, J. P. Plumbing did not make any arraignments to begin working on the project. J. P. Plumbing kept postponing the job. One of the reasons was that he lost the documentation that he requested from me with the original stamps from the Departments of the City of New York (DOB and DEP) which I received from the architect. I went on and requested more documents from the architect for him. On 11/8/2017 when I had the second round of documents for him to obtain the permits for the job, Mr Passalacqua requested an additional sum of $2500. He complained having no funds in his bank account. I offered to pay for the permits in order to get him started and put him back on his feet. He denied that. That’s when I knew something was wrong.

I searched for his business thereafter, but I was unsuccessful in locating a credible business. I personally visited the location (217 20th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232), which is written on the letterhead of the signed contract. There is no plumbing business there for several years. The new owner operates a glass shop by the name “Lilyglass”, and they’ve been in business there for the last two years. Prior to that, the location was unoccupied for a number of years with the J. P. Plumbing Corp. sign still on the storefront.

On my search, many other locations are linked with this corporation and name in Brooklyn and in Staten Island on which some of them I visited. The other businesses he claims in the other locations are bogus too. AKAs: J. P. Plumbing Corporation, J. P. Sewer and Water Mains. Other telephone numbers J. P. Plumping is using: 718 499-7393, 718 855-0790, 718 619 0807.

Since, I hired a new contractor and installed the water main.

Resolution: I need the $5,000 deposit back.
