Comment: Contracted with this contractor to build a steel building. Contractor did not produce any deliverables at all. No plans and specs and material was never delivered. After two months of waiting the contractor was told perform or cancel the contract. They optioned to cancel the contract but refused to return all deposit money paid. We took them to court and the court ruled that because their contract stated the $3250 deposit was not refundable we were not able to recover those funds. The judge was critical of the contractor and said it was not right but contract law prevails. Lesson is to not sign any agreements with non refundable deposits. This is a scam that seems to be showing up more and more where contractor engage and then fail to perform and are able to keep money that is not earned.
