How much were you charged? $850
Was the charge fair? unfair
Comment: Price included one whole-house fuse. It took two men two hours and fifteen minutes to complete job, and they left 1 inch of exposed ground wire coming from the wall and going behind bathroom sink cabinet. I was not told beforehand that they charge $175 hour. For rates like that you would expect they could do the job in less time and that they would not leave a ground wire exposed! One of their phone numbers is to an office in Wheaton. Their home address is in Niles.
The electrician inflated the cost of materials. An outlet selling for $29.99 at Ace Hardware, he charged me $128.99. Two main fuses selling for $5.99 at Ace Hardware, he charged me $177.32. Altogether, the materials should have cost me only $110.04. He charged me $408.52.
